Externship is an on-the-job experience for each student for a minimum period of 10 weeks with 40 hour work week for a total of 400 hours. MSPH students have participated in externship's at the local, state, federal and international public health settings. Additional externship's have taken place at non-governmental organizations. Externship's have been placed with Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Tennessee Hospital Association, Centers for Disease Control, Department of Veterans Affairs, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Harvard University, and the Minority International Research training (MIRT) Program in Ethiopia Africa.
