Meharry Medical College Hosts Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU)

Pre-Health Professions Advisors Conference Agenda

“Transforming HBCU Pre-Health Professions Advising – Preparing the Next Generation of Healthcare Providers”

Who:         Pre-Health Advisors at HBCU with special emphasis on United Methodist Intuitions and those located in the Southeastern United States

Why:        The HBCU Pre-Health Advisors Conference is designed to

• Strengthen undergraduate pre-health advisors in their roles as advisors to minority and underrepresented students to ultimately increase their competitiveness for health professions schools
• Provide a comprehensive/multi-dimensional approach to the advising process to include the application process, financial aid, academic preparation and support
• Provide practical approaches and solutions to advising challenges
• Identify resources that can facilitate the advising process
• Establish a network of communication between HBCU pre-health advisors and resources at Meharry Medical College.
