Meharry Medical College Dean Featured in National HBO Documentary
“The Black List Project”
(Nashville, Tenn.) - Dr. Valerie Montgomery-Rice, dean of the School of Medicine and Meharry Medical College, will be featured in second volume of The HBO documentary “The Black List” which premieres on Thursday, February 26
THE BLACK LIST: VOL. 2 profiles some of today's most fascinating African- Americans. From the childhood inspirations that shaped their ambitions, to the evolving American landscape they helped define and the importance of preserving a unique cultural identity for future generations.
In addition to being dean of Meharry Medical College, Dr. Montgomery-Rice also holds positions as senior vice president of health affairs and Executive Director of the Center for Women’s Health Research at Meharry.
Additional prominent African-Americans included in the “The Black List: Vol. 2” are: activist and artist Majora Carter; activist and academic Angela Davis; producer Suzanne de Passe; actor Laurence Fishburne; Anglican Bishop Barbara Harris; Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick; pastor T.D. Jakes; filmmaker Tyler Perry; singer Charley Pride; fashion designer Patrick Robinson; actress Maya Rudolph; musician RZA; filmmaker Melvin Van Peebles; and artist Kara Walker.
Dr. Montgomery-Rice will attend the premiere showing at the Apollo Theater in New York City, tonight, Tuesday, February 24(http://www.hbo.com/docs/programs/blacklistv2/synopsis.html).
