Clinical Research
- To perform clinical research in underrepresented patient populations in order to accelerate the elimination of health disparities
- To promote standards of excellence in clinical research among Meharry investigators and research personnel
- To foster the development of minority clinical investigators via formal training programs, such as the Master of Science in Clinical Investigaton, workshops, CME programs, and informal mentorship
- To advance the overarching goal of facilitating bench to bedside to community research in line with the implementation of NIH-funded Clinical and Translation Science Award initiatives
Meharry Medical College achieves its clinical research mission via investigator-initiated research supported by Federal funding, and by infrastructure such as our Clinical Research Center, or by pharmaceutical funding, and supported by our Clinical Trials Office ( CTO).
A variety of core facilities beyond those overseen by the CRC also support clinical research, including the Microarray and Bioinformatics Core, the Molecular Biology Core, the Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorting (FACS) facility, Tissue Acquisition, Processing, Histology Core, and the Fluorescence Microscopy and Immunohistochemistry Core.
